Zones
Dedicated Boat Zones in RED – No Boats allowed in the Bank Areas in front of Public Resorts.
Anglers fishing from the bank can fish from anywhere on the dam, but should they choose to sit inside a Boat zone they will have to respect anglers personal bounderies set out.
Basic Rules
- Strictly Specimen angling only
- No pre feeding
- No artlure allowed
- 3 Anglers per team
- Remote App Weigh-ins
- Once logged the fish must remain in sling until approved by Marshals
- Unclear weigh-ins will reweighed by Marshals
- Teams may set marker boundaries

Opening / Closing
The opening and closing ceremony will take place at Pothole Plaas Kombuis
TOURNAMENT RULES
1. All fish must be over 10kg to qualify for the Tournament.
2. Wet Unhooking Mats and slings as well as all Standard Specimen Carp Care practice is compulsory. Should the carp care not be up to standard the marshals can decline the catch.
3. Weigh sling must be weighed first and zeroed or Tared. The zeroed scale must be visible in the video.
4. Should there an issue with the zeroing of the scale the exact weight of the sling and the exact weight of the fish in the sling must be visible in the video
5. Weigh-in video must not be longer than 2min. A video of 45 seconds should be enough to capture the information needed.
6. The team name and date of the capture must be mentioned in the video
7. Should any dishonesty or foul play be suspected the marshals and organizers reserve the right to investigate and deal with any discrepancies.
8. All captures logged must be within the Roodekoppies Dam Perimeters and must be logged immediately at the time of capture. Should there be any delay for whatever reason the catch must be logged within 60 to 90 min.
9. All catches must be kept in a retainer sling or carp sack until the catch is approved by the Marshals. Should any capture be disputed or declined by Big Fish Challenge and Pro Carp Marshalls the catch must be retained and re-weighed by the marshals in person.
10. All anglers and teams will be responsible for their own safety. Any Resort fees or expenses will be for the team’s own account.
11. All scales to be used by every team must be presented at Registration Desk. All scales have to be checked and approved by the marshals.
12. All boats must adhere to the local Roodekoppies Dam Water Affairs regulations.
12.1 – Boats must stay inside the Boat Fishing Zones – map to be confirmed. No boats allowed in front of angling banks.
13. Boat anglers must be no closer than 100m from each other. Boundary markers must be clearly visible for neighbouring teams and passing boats.
14. No pre-feeding or fishing allowed from thursday 11 June 2025.
15. No artlure fising allowed whatsoever. Specimen Angling only.
16. Right of Admission reserved by the organisers and marshals of the Big Fish Challenge.
17. Each team must share their location to their marshal upon arrival to their fishing spots. Should a team move spots the next location must be sent as soon as possible. Marshal reserves the right to request a Live location at any given time.
18. Each team has 4 rods and can only weigh in fish caught on those 4 rods by the team members of that team.
19. No Markers allowed before the start of the Big Fish Challenge – 12pm Saturday 13 June
20. Boat launch – from 10:00 from any bank or resort on Roodekoppies Dam.
21. Public Venues – Maximum bank space 100m per team when booking spots/swims on public banks or resorts
All Licences, Permits and Permissions are solely the responsibility of the anglers. The organisers will not be liable for any damages or penalties that may occur.
